Answers:

heat a panfull of water, place a bowl over the top

add as much chocolate as you like (depends on how much you want to make)
add a tablespoon full of butter and a cup of milk (2 if you are making quite a lot)
add a SMALL pinch of salt (it DOES bring out the flavour of chocolate

Gently heat together, taking the bowl off of the pan if it gets too hot

Thats a simple chocolate sauce

Add a drop brandy or vanilla if you have it laying around

I am not sure if you want a chocolate sauce to drizzle over the cake for decoration (and taste) or a chocolate frosting for icing the cake, so I am giving you both. Both have been provided by professional bakers.

Go to GreatGrub for all the details for making a chocolate glaze: http://greatgrub.com/recipes/chocolate_g…

Don't use milk as your chocolate may seize as it contains too much water.

Use heavy cream - heat the cream on your stove, add chopped chocolate and mix. Add vanilla and some Grand Marnier or bourbon (1 tsb) if you wish.

Good luck

I usually buy a jar of Nutella and microwave it until it's soft then pour it over the cake, refrigerate for an hour and YUM...
