I have a recipe that calls for roasted hazelnuts?!

Question: I have a recipe that calls for roasted hazelnuts?
If I cant find any, how do I roast them myself? Do I need to use additional fat, or will there be enough fat in the nuts to roast themselves, and how long and at what temperature?

Answers:

You old feminist, you - roasting nuts! I hear they go well with roast pig! (truly - I heard that).

Place the nuts on a pan and place in the oven about 350 degrees F. Shake the pan turning the nuts every few minutes. When they smell nutty and roasted they are done. If you have just a few to do you can do them in a small fry pan on the stove. No oil is needed just keep them moving so they don't burn.
Watch them closely they will burn quickly once they get going.

Just heat them very gently in the oven or even in a toaster oven or a frying pan. Use low heat and watch them closely. Nuts can burn very quickly.

no add oil is need
325 degree for 15 -30 min. look for light brown color
put on a cookie pan & cool before using
