All your amounts depend on the entire meal and what food is being served to a person.
The amounts also depend on the age of the person being served.-- adults eat more than children
The amounts depend on the different meal plan and variety of foods in a meal, as I said, your list is just a guide for planning, when there are a number of people. It will help you to know the amount of food to shop for and multiplied by the number of people you are going to serve.
For example:
Roasted chicken as main meat for dinner with sides of steamed vegetables, and a special salad or baked or mashed potato
A fruit salad as dessert made with fresh sliced fruit( strawberries, blueberries, pineapple) Maybe a cake as well.
Beverage for children of milk. using your guide
For planning purposes you can break down the meal into serving sizes to know how much in oz. of all the food that you need to buy. Knowing that 16 oz is equal to 1 pound will also help. When buying chicken or beef or ground meat or fish. 16 oz. will probably serve 2-3 people.
It does get complicated if you want accuracy and very few leftovers.
planning as a guide for food (my own)
Most items are 1/2 cup per serving, but it depends on the volume. For instance 1/2 c of baked beans is a serving, but to get 1/2 c of broccoli, you may need what looks like more because it's got a lot of airy spaces. Weight then is a better help--4 oz on a scale will give you the right amount for anything.
There are variations though in what a serving is. Meat is generally expected to be larger, but the USDA says we only need a 3 oz piece. Package labels will tell you what the serving size is for anything you can buy pre-packaged. The USDA website can give you a lot more info.
