Presto pressure cooker / canner - which parts wear out first?!

Question: Presto pressure cooker / canner - which parts wear out first?
I am planning to buy a Presto canner. (I'm not yet sure which model.)

Which parts wear out most often? I may stock up on a few parts. I have terrible luck with things I buy being discontinued and parts no longer being available.

Answers:

The part that will wear out first is the rubber GASKET used to SEAL it. If it is not properly cared for (washing and storage) it can dry out, stretch, or other nasty things. Most hardware stores carry extra gaskets you can purchase, or I am sure you can find them online nowadays. Otherwise, all other parts of the Presto pressure cookers last virtually forever!

That'll be 5-cents, please.

The gasket in the lid is the most likely to wear out but that usually only happens every few years depending on usage and care.

Don't worry too much about finding a replacement part. About six months ago I found one on the internet for the pressure cooker that my mother got in 1953.
