Does anyone remember Gypsy Creme Biscuits?!

Question: Does anyone remember Gypsy Creme Biscuits?
Does anyone remember who made gypsy creme biscuits and do they know why they are no longer on sale.

Answers:

Gypsy Cream is, indeed, a rare breed. "We don't know of any mass produced Gypsy cream being available any place in the UK right now, although we have heard that some small bakers make them. The distantly related Romany Creams can be found in South Africa made by Bakers, or made under license in Australia as Kingstons made by Arnotts," they advise.

They were yummy, made by McVities in Glasgow who became part of United Biscuits.
They did make them as Romany Cream for a while (more politically correct) but they stopped a few years ago.

A haulier acquaintance who used to go to the Glasgow factory told me they were making them in Carlisle for a while but for export only. Don't know if they still do.

I found this recipe. http://www.biscuit-recipes.co.uk/Gypsy%2…
