Can Pinto beans substitute for Great Northern Beans in a chili?!

Question: Can Pinto beans substitute for Great Northern Beans in a chili?
I made a white bean and turkey chili that I am craving, but am on a strict budget. So I went to an Aldi store but all they had was Pinto Beans and NO other white bean, so I got them. In the original recipe it calls for Great Nothern Beans. I know, I know... "why not just go buy a can from Walmart?" because I didn't want to also stop there. I was tired. :)

So, can Pinto Beans substitute just fine for Great Northern Beans?

Thanks in advance!

Answers:

I think it will be lovely. It will taste different but not bad. Most of my most delicious recipes were born out of what I had and didn't have in the pantry. You might be starting a new tradition.

Good luck!

I use pinto beans or Kidney beans in my chili.
Bottom line...bottom dollar..use what is inexpensive and available.
Frankly I think the pinto beans will have more flavor than the Great Northern.
Use the Great Northern for Baked Beans. By the way my Aldi has the great northern but they are the dry beans not the canned beans.

sure...you can use any beans you like in a chili recipe

Most beans will work....

Enjoy your chili.......

They will work just fine

yes i prefer them
