What to cook for my sick husband?!

Question: What to cook for my sick husband?
He's really tired of chicken noodle and I'm making a ham and pea soup for his lunch tomorrow.
Any dinner ideas that aren't really soupy?
He's got a bad head cold and he's really achy.
Also, does anyone have any old fashioned remedies their grandma used to use for colds/sickness? Thanks so much!

Answers:

soup doesn't really help a head cold... it's more for a stomach bug. but anyways, whenever I have a head cold, I eat spicy foods to clear my nasal passages. I like spicy tacos, stir-fry, or grilled chicken. sometimes I can't taste anything until halfway through eating the spicy food, but it really clears you up. if he doesn't like spicy foods, acidic foods helps as well. acidic foods like spaghetti with meat sauce, lemon chicken, or anything like that will help. drinking decaf tea can help, too. but I hate decaf tea so I make hot lemonade with honey instead of sugar. that's my dad's secret. it warms you up, soothes your throat, and clears your nose from the smell of the lemon. generally, 8 oz + juice of one lemon + 1 tbsp honey is my recipe. sometimes a little extra honey if my lemon's super sour. hope this helps! oh I forgot- a good spicy AND acidic food is chili! what man doesn't like chili!

I'm Indian, so my grandma made me and my sister khichirdi when we were sick. I'm not too fond of it (probably because I used to get sick all the time), but my sister LOVES it, she often eats it even when she's not sick. The recipe here is similar to my grandmas:

Dal is lentils, and you can use the yellow, orangey, or blackish brown kind, it doesn't really matter which. You can take out the chiles, potato, and carrot (my grandma never used them, she thought they wouldn't be good on our scratchy throats). I've no clue what Asafoetida is, and I asked my grandma, and she doesn't know what it is either, so I'm supposing you can omit that.

I honestly eat regular food when I'm sick, though I'm partial to French Onion Soup and Mac and Cheese. I've no idea why those two.

Having anything spicy will open up the sinus cavities

This should do the trick (from Betty Crocker): Chili Chicken Soup with Cilantro Dumplings! hm..good :D
giving you link...read the comments because you can do different things with this soup (like use already made chicken from store, shredding it instead of cubing it...or adding more stuff: black beans, mexicorn, more chili powder....can do dumplings by adding cheddar.
