Can any one tell me what is the use of Vinegar?!

Question: Can any one tell me what is the use of Vinegar?
Answers:

It is a preservative which is to be used while cooking food. It is to be put in those things which we have to be kept for long time like Ketchup and Sauce. It is to be used in small quantity.

Some people use it as an alternative to chemicals for cleaning, I know it's an ingredient in toffees, add a splash to corned beef (silverside) when boiling it, make a salad dressing with olive oil, red wine vinegar and some herbs and garlic etc. There are lots of uses for it, depends if you want edible or other uses?

Have tried it as a cleaner, works but I'm not keen on the smell, and have made toffees and cooked corned beef with it. Heard of using it for salad dressings, haven't tried that yet.

It depends, I mean here, in italy, we use it to season salad together with oil and salt. Then there's balsamic vinegar that is used in a completely different way - the real kind (you know cause it's very expensiva and has a special label) can be used over aged cheese or a drop over steak...and so on.
It all depends on where you are and what kind of vinegar you're talking about, I use it to clean my coffee machine as well...
give me a more specific question I shall give a better answer :)
Ciao
