Can you use expired baking chips?!

Question: Can you use expired baking chips?
Answers:

i have. If they are chocolate, they will have a dusty whiteish look, but they are still fine to use. We lived for years without expiration dates and we simply went by common sense and common scents. If you smell something that smells bad, don't eat it. If you see mold, cut it off. If it's been left unrefrigerated and is not preserved by salt or sugar or vinegar, don't eat it. Learn by doing what is good and what is not. Your nose and your tongue will help you. I think the expiration dates are a good thing, but I do not let them rule me. It depends entirely on the food substance. In the case of baking chips....they are fine for years...unless the mice get into them...then throw them away.

It's a best if used by date instead of an expiration date. I've used a year past the printed date and they're fine. When they get old, they'll get dry and crumbly. Sometimes they will turn a lighter color. The color doesn't affect the taste. You can taste one before putting in your batter. I've often snacked on chips while I'm baking. And if there's no chocolate in the house- I'll look for those chips.

Been baking for years

if they are only expired by a month or 2 sure taste 1 to see what you think i remember the old days they never had exp date

If they have not expired more than 3 months ago, it's fine.

probably

only if its expired for a few days
