Can I cover my glass dish with wax paper to bake chicken?!

Question: Can I cover my glass dish with wax paper to bake chicken?
Im baking chicken and my recipe says it's ok, but doesn't sound like a good idea to me.If not, what can I use since I am out of aluminum foil?If I bake it without a lid, should I lower the temperature or cook time?

Answers:

If you have a larger aluminum pan that would be best. I would be afraid of the wax paper catching on fire.

Waxed paper is not the best in this situation.
I would use parchment paper if you have it.
If you have another pan you can invert over the top of the dish you are baking in that might be better.
Covering will retain some moisture but if you have left the skin on the skin will not get that nice crispy texture that is so gosh darned good. If you want the crispy skin bake uncovered, keep temp the same but check it sooner and if it is getting dry or appears done reduce heat or remove from oven. There is a bit of carry over cooking that happens after you remove an item from the oven. About 10 to 15 degrees.

You can its a silicone based wax paper I would use parchment paper better suited for the job. Check the packaging for info about if its OK for baking and you should be fine ether way.

I made this mistake years ago and the wax melted. You are better off using either aluminum foil or parchment paper.

Good luck!

if you are out of foil than place a pizza try over the dish it will act as a lid.

wax paper might melt depending on the temp, tin foil would bet better.

yea..there is no problem but be care full other wise you will spoil your food...

No..........never put wax paper in the oven...Use foil or a oven proof plate..but not wax paper..............
