Best recipe for French Toast?!


Question: Best recipe for French Toast?
Going to make French Toast for the first time, so I′m looking for a good ¨first time¨recipe that′s not too complicated but still good.

BQ: what are some good dishes (again with recipes) to serve it with?

Answers:

I use Alton Brown's recipe.It is THE BEST...aside with my mother's.

Ingredients

* 1 cup half-and-half
* 3 large eggs
* 2 tablespoons honey, warmed in microwave for 20 seconds
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 8 (1/2-inch) slices day-old or stale country loaf, brioche or challah bread
* 4 tablespoons butter

Directions

In medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the half-and-half, eggs, honey, and salt. You may do this the night before. When ready to cook, pour custard mixture into a pie pan and set aside.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Dip bread into mixture, allow to soak for 30 seconds on each side, and then remove to a cooling rack that is sitting in a sheet pan, and allow to sit for 1 to 2 minutes.

Over medium-low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a 10-inch nonstick saute pan. Place 2 slices of bread at a time into the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove from pan and place on rack in oven for 5 minutes. Repeat with all 8 slices. Serve immediately with maple syrup, whipped cream or fruit.

It is a very easy recipe....and the finished product..is sooooo yummy.............You could serve eggs or fruit...keep it light though.........

2/3 cup milk or half-and-half
4 eggs
2 Tablespoons sugar or maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla Optional
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 slices white sandwich bread
Butter as needed

Whisk everything together, except the bread and butter, in a shallow pan (I used a pie plate)--make sure to whisk good, though, you want all the eggs broken up...

Heat a skillet on medium/high heat, add 1 Tbs of butter, and as it foams up take a piece of bread, dip it on one side in the mixture, dip it on the other side, wipe off the excess egg, and drop it in the skillet; take one more piece of bread and do the same and then let that bread fry---leaving it alone for 30 seconds or so, adjusting the heat so it doesn't cook too fast. ...

Use a spatula, eventually, and take a peak--if it's golden brown and crusty where it's cooking, it's time to flip it over. Cook it on the other side and then put it on a plate. I had the oven at 200 and put the plate with the finished French toast in the oven so I could fry up everything and have it all hot at the same time.

Sift confectioner's sugar over the top and serve with maple syrup. ...

Now I am a jelly person...so I use jelly on mine...but they do look so pretty with the sifted powdered sugar on top...

Pain Perdu -French Bread

This is an easy French bread for everyone especially your first one!

Bread is sacred in France you don't waste any! Stale bread is used up as in this wonderful recipe or for soups and bouillabaisses.

Ingredients

? 1 large stale loaf

? 2 Fresh eggs

? 150 gm (3/4 cup) powdered sugar

? 125 gm (1 stick ) butter

? 1/2 litre milk

Method

? Cut a thick slice of bread for each person.

? Soak them in warm milk and then in beaten egg.

? Fry them in melted butter until golden brown.

? Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve hot.



So easy yet the kids wiIl love them (I think the big kids will too!)

You can serve it with lovely fresh fruit such as strawberries or any soft fruit you like and this makes another lovely recipe for you.

Not sure how many you're making for, but it's easy. You need thick, heavy bread, not wimpy little sliced white sandwich bread. For two people, in a large flat dish with sides big enough to hold 4 slices of bread flat on the bottom, beat up 2 eggs, add a splash of milk or cream, a pinch of salt, a pinch of cinnamon, and a grating of fresh nutmeg. Mix well, then put in the bread flat, let sit a few minutes, then flip and let sit some more. You want the custard in the bread, not just coating it. Some people soak it overnight, but it's not necessary. Bring a few tablespoons of butter to the bubble in a heavy or non-stick skillet, and fry the french toast until it's brown on one side, then flip and brown the other side, adding more butter if needed. Serve hot with butter and jam or syrup, with sides of bacon or ham or sausage. I like milk and coffee with it.



Well the good old fashion homemade French Toast
is usually done by, mixing milk and eggs, then dipping your choice of bread, I always go with the White Bread- on both sides in the mixture of milk and eggs.
And putting some butter on a frying pan, for about 10 minutes or so flipping them over till they are golden brown. And then after you can add a topping.

What ever recipe you use to make the French Toast. Give it a bit of a twist. Before cooking it, place the batter dipped bread on some Panko Japanese bread crumbs. They brown up nice and give it
a crunchy coating that is delightfully different.

put 2 eggs and a little bit of milk in a bowl wisk like you are going to make an omelate then cut you bread in half and soak it in the egg mix on both sides fry lightley in a bit of oil until golden brown this is how i make mine and i and everyone i have fed this it is gorgeous go on try it you no you want to!
