What is Your Ultimate Sandwich?!
So, what is your favorite?
Answers:
I like to cook the bacon in the microwave, between layers of paper towels...It's light, crispy and most of the fat is absorbed by the paper towel. For me, it HAS to be fresh, white bread...thinly sliced tomatoes from the garden and shredded lettuce...Hellmann's mayo coating the bread....heavenly!!!
Second favorite is a ham and cheese sub.....
Usually a nice long loaf of french bread....coated with mayo, a good portion of very thinly sliced smoked ham, topped with a couple of layers of thinly sliced white american cheese, sliced garden tomatoes and shredded lettuce...ahhhhh !!!!!
Third...Subway...their original cold cut sub...mayo, no oil...topped with sliced bell peppers, black olives and sliced onions.
Then, there's the homemade egg salad sandwich with chopped celery...
Darn, now I'm starving...LOL
The easy ones that immediately come to mind, that nobody else seems to think of, are simply (light) pimento cheese spread and a good pizza sauce or (fat-free) cream cheese and light Miracle Whip on whole wheat or rye.
Otherwise, I love a potato pancake sandwich; pancake made from flour, potato flakes, egg white, garlic and onion salt and water, usually baked. That with Miracle Whip is very nice.
Another good one is pureed black olives for a spread, or cottage cheese and taco seasoning.
I also use cream of chicken soup for a spread; very good with swiss cheese.
I hope you'll try this. The only reason I did was that my daughter, who was an extremely picky eater, ate this at a friend's house and loved it. I figured if she liked it, it must be pretty darn good. That was 20 years ago and we will have these at least once a month.
For each sandwich, you'll need 8 ounces of ground beef. And you'll need 2 slices of rye bread for each sandwich. Shape the ground beef into an oval, shaped like the bread. Brown the ground beef on both sides, almost getting it completely done. Then, on one slice of rye bread, place a slice of swiss cheese, a hamburger patty, a nice coating of sauerkraut, and another slice of swiss cheese. Then top that with a light coating of 1000 Island Dressing. Top with the other slice of rye bread. Melt butter in a pan, and fry those sandwiches until the cheese is melted and everything is nice and hot. These are so good!
I love all kinds of sandwiches. My favorite would be either sloppy joe, pulled bbq chicken sandwich with cole slaw on top, or a basic turkey, lettuce, tomato and avocado sandwich on whole wheat bread with honey mustard! YUM. See my recipes for a great pulled bbq or sloppy joe!

OK, so this is super simple but sometimes simple is sooooo good. When you are making a simple sandwich it is all about having the best ingredients and putting them into the sandwich at the right time for optimal eating.
I LOVE a grilled turkey, cheese and avocado sandwich.
You start with a super good quality bread. I prefer a fresh sourdough bread that I slice myself. I slice the two pieces on the thicker side of normal.
I put a very thin layer of butter on just one side of the bread. I lay that side down in a already warm pan. I place thinly sliced extra sharp cheddar cheese on the piece of bread that is in the pan.
Now wait.
Be patient. Right now it looks like an open faced sandwich at this point.
Turn your back on the pan and slice a quarter to a half of an avocado thick slices.
Turn back around and look to see if the cheese is starting to melt. If it is place the turkey on top of the cheese now. and then the avocado and place the last slice of bread on top. You do this because you don't want the avocado for this sandwich getting very warm.
Flip
Brown the second side just long enough to brown the bread and remove from the heat.
Slice on the diagonal and serve.
The cheese is ooooy gooooy and the turkey is warmed from the cheese but the avocado is cool and fresh tasting still.
YUMMY!!
Chicken salad is my favorite, and I love it stuffed in a pita or on a toasted sub. I go to this deli near me and get one every week. They won't give me their exact recipe, so I just make mine with whatever kind of leftover chicken I have, or sometimes I pan fry it just for the salad. I chop the chicken up, add finely diced celery and green onion, some mayo, salt, pepper, and a little pickle relish. At home I put it in a pita or on rye or whatever type of bread I have, with some lettuce and tomato.
I love a turkey club. Theres also nothing better than a monte cristo. essentially its a ham and cheese sandwich, dipped in egg on all sides and grlled. yum. Or a roast beef sandwich with bbq sauce, mayo and american cheese (3way)

My all time favorite food is anything with avocado in it. So, naturally, I made a sandwich.
Just put some sliced turkey on bread, add some lettuce if you want some crunch, and than just spread some avocado on it or add chunks of it.
Mmmm...
:)
I love sandwiches too , my favorite is a turkey Reuben. Instead of using the corn beef I use deli turkey breast (chipped) rye bread , swiss cheese, thousand island dressing , and sauerkraut. Try it sometime it is good.
OMG i love sandwiches too my personal faves are .. tuna mayo and grated cheese, chicken mayo and grated cheese, bacon and cheese , and cheese and marmite , aha u can tell i like cheese a lot :D

You can't go wrong with a basic grilled cheese. Sometimes I want a little something extra with it, though, so I add spinach & a tomato slice and I use pepperjack cheese. It's a great combination.
