i have 700 wat microwave, but recipe gives time for 800wat?!

Question: I have 700 wat microwave, but recipe gives time for 800wat?
How do i calculate, it says 4mins in 800watt microwave but mine is a 700watt so how long would i have to cook it for

Answers:

Because at 800 watts the time is 4 minutes, you will need to add extra time to have the same results.
I say 3 minutes extra should be enough.

I usually cook for 30 seconds less i.e. 3 mins & 30 secs and then check the food to see whether it's done or not.
it's better to use less time as you can always cook it for a bit longer rather than overcook it first of all

I found the best calculations in cookery books typically for microwave

cook it for 4mins but keep a close eye on it, you can always put it back in to cook longer!

Set your timer for the 4 mins, then check your dish, give another 30 - 45 secs if necessary

1/7 more time DUH.
