I found help of you on a review page for the Big Top Cupcake pan:

Making a Big Top Cupcake
To make the cupcake you first prepare the boxed cake mix per the instructions. The instructions given are a bit cloudy but they are for using a single boxed mix. If you use a single boxed mix, you can use the fill lines inside of the base pan and then pour the remaining mix into the top. The instructions state that the base pan will take longer to bake (at 350) than the topper which should be removed after 35 minutes and tested (with a toothpick) to see if it is done. If not done to put it back in the oven and to check every 5 or so minutes both the top and base and remove when finished. The instructions also state a few places that "for a larger cupcake to use 2 boxes". If you use 2 boxes, you will have left over cake mix - as the pans can only accomodate about 2/3 of the mix without overflowing. You can make 12 standard sized cupcakes or a couple of trays of mini cupcakes with the extra batter.

One boxed mix will not make a very big cupcake - it will not even fill the pan completely after rising. The cupcakes that they show on the TV and all throughout the decorating tips book have all been made with 2 boxes of mix. If you use 2 boxes of mix the best thing to do is to measure out about 2/3 of it and then divide it between the base and the top (the base will hold more). You need to disregard the fill line because that is only for using 1 box. Also, the cooking times given are for using 1 mix as well, so you will need to cook your cupcake longer. I had good results cooking for close to an hour in total with the top being finished around 45 minutes and the base around 55 minutes (after 35 minutes in the oven I dropped the temperature to 325 to avoid the outsides of the cupcake from browning while the insides were still raw and needed to bake).
