Can I mix vegetable oil and olive oil?!

Question: Can I mix vegetable oil and olive oil?
Im short on vegetable oil and I need to fry some chicken.

Answers:

yes, i have done it before, and it tasted fine

Corbin, do you have smoke detectors close to your kitchen? What's going to happen, at the heat you will have the fryer, the olive oil will smoke up. Do yourself a favor and save on the Tylenol, go out and buy some oil.

Olive oil breaks down and smokes at a lower temperature than vegetable oil so it is not a good oil to deep fry in. It is also expensive. Shallow frying would be better. I would not mix more than 50/50.

Olive oil might smoke up your kitchen if your heat is too high; like for frying chicken. Why not bake your chicken instead of frying it. Or, make a quick run to the store for more veg. oil.

chefs do it all the time raises the smoking temperature of the olive oil

I watch cooking shows
