Question: How DIFFERENTLY can I cook ground beef w. frozen veggies - served on a bed of rice for supper?
Besides STIR FRYING (a cooking style that I cook far too often) how differently can I cook ground beef, frozen veggies - with simple seasonings served on a bed of steamed rice?

Answers:

Do a "poor man's" beef stroganoff. Brown it, then simmer in beef stock and a can of cream of mushroom soup (and a bay leaf, S&P, maybe some mushrooms, a little garlic). Add some sour cream at the end (w/ heat off). This is typically served over egg noodles, but rice would definitely work!

ETS: Forgot to mention frozen veggies... if you have mixed veggies (corn, limas, carrots, green beans) just add a cup or two of those the last 10 min or simmering. Taste for S&P before adding sour cream and serving.

I make a meatballs in mushroom gravy over rice sometimes.

The meatballs have minced onion and celery, 1/4 teaspoon of italian seasoning and poultry seasoning, an egg, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, and salt and pepper. Brown balls in a large pan and remove. Add 2-3 cups of sliced mushrooms and saute til brown. Add 2-3 cups of beef stock or water and scrape bottom of pan. Add balls back and cook until done ~ 20 minutes. Thicken sauce with flour if desired.

You could certainly mix the frozen veggies into the gravy towards the end of cooking if you'd like, but I would probably serve them on the side.

Well you could do the ground beef and vegetables in the dishwasher apparently, just wrap it in a couple layers of foil. Or wrapped in the same foil you can cover it with hot coals, or I guess you could use the oven for the foil method. You might be able to use a set of jumper cables on the meat and vegetables as long as it was all mashed together, but I doubt that it would cook evenly. One way to make sure it cooked evenly would be to use a propane torch being careful to move the flame around. Or you could mix it with high proof alcohol and set it on fire. A heat gun would also work, but the stuff would get pretty dry.

Am I allowed to make substitutions?
Ground beef and tomatoes hot sauce, peppers onions ,veggies,etc...spanish rice
Ground beef, veggies and sauce -sloppy joes on bun or your rice
Ground beef veggies beans tomatoes and spices- chili(save the rice)
Vegetable, tomatoes and rice- tom veg soup (save the gr beef)
Gr. beef, veggies, gravy, top with potatoes-beef Shepherds Pie(hold the rice)
Hamburger, vegetables and rice
Beef Burrito,w/froz spinach and salsa, side of dirty rice

How about with a gravy? It doesn't have to be unhealthy. Cook your ground beef, add your veggies - sprinkle some flour over the mixture and stir, stir, stir. Then add some milk and seasonings you like. Allow to cook and thicken.

You can mix the veggies into the steamed rice to make confetti rice.
Brown the ground round until no longer pink, with chopped onion.
Add cream of mushroom soup & sliced mushrooms as a sauce.

check out the sauce and gravy isle at your grocery store, also check out all the cream soups available to make sauces as well. We cannot survive on cream of mushroom alone.
