How would you prepare a sweet potato aside from boiling it?!

Question: How would you prepare a sweet potato aside from boiling it?
I've only ever had sweet potatoes boiled and think they're pretty gross that way (wayyy too mushy)... What's a good way to make 'em? Detailed instructions please. I.e. don't just say "bake 'em!" What temp., for how long, etc. Please and thank you!

Answers:

1. Bake sweet potatoes in their skins. Wash, cut off the ends and bake in a preheated 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes (depending on the size of the potatoes and how firm you want them to be). Bake the potatoes on a baking sheet; the sugars in the potatoes can drip out and burn on the floor of your oven.

2. Roast peeled chunks of sweet potatoes with onions in a 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes. Drizzle a little olive oil on the potatoes first.

3. Wrap peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes loosely in plastic wrap (prick with a fork in a few places first) and microwave 10 to 15 minutes or until tender. (Use the Potato setting if your microwave has one.)

4. Mash cooked sweet potato and blend with butter and a little milk for a smooth puree. Add brown sugar plus cinnamon, cloves or ginger if you wish. A well-cooked sweet potato will mash almost instantly with just a fork.

Hi!

?Bake sweet potatoes in their jackets. Wash, cut off the ends and bake in a preheated 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes (depending on the size of the potatoes and how firm you want them to be). Roast peeled chunks of sweet potatoes with onions in a 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes. Drizzle a little olive oil on the potatoes first.

?3
Boil or steam peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes, either cut into chunks or not, until tender. The time will vary depending on the size of the potatoes or chunks -- from 5 minutes for small chunks to 30 minutes for whole potatoes.

Wrap peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes loosely in plastic wrap (prick with a fork in a few places first) and microwave 10 to 15 minutes or until tender. (Use the Potato setting if your microwave has one.)

Enjoy!

peel and slice or cut into strips like for white potatoes for french fries and fry them. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon if you want instead of the salt that is put on white french fries.

for just boiled sweet potatoes, mash and add butter and brown sugar, maybe some cinnamon if you like cinnamon.

for casserole add a can of pineapple tidbits or a can of crushed pineapple, a cup of chopped pecans, and 1/2 cup brown sugar. bake for 30 minutes. add 1/2 package mini marshmallows just before serving time and toast under broiler until melted and browned gently on top.

dice boiled sweet potato into saute pan with 1 tablespoon butter. Quickly brown these and add the same amount of cooked diced apples. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Excellent!!

Stab the potato or if you have a shish ka bob skewer run that through the sweet potato.
Place in a hot oven, about 400 and bake until the potato is tender. Time will depend on the size of the potato. 45 minutes to 1 hour should do it. Serve with a bit of butter and if you are real decadent a bit of brown sugar.
Another way I like them is roasted.
Chop and coat with olive oil and a bit of salt. Place on a sheet pan or 13X9 pan and roast in a hot oven until all the pieces are browned. Stir about every 10 to 15 minutes. these will take about 30 minutes depending on how large you have cut the potatoes.

You can make tempura. They sell premade mixes at most grocery stores.
I like mashed sweet potato mixed with salt and sourcream. I can't eat it plain.
You can make chips. Just cut them really thin and place them, toss in in a little oil and bake them at about 400 degrees until they look ready.
There are many good recipes for soups you can check out as well.

Slice them very thin and deep fry those puppies. Not exactly health food, but very tasty. You can dust them with sugar, or salt, or both if you like.

Sweet potato casserole, 350 for 30 min
Sweet potato fries, 400, for 10-15 min on each side

Roast it in the oven. Wash it, rub it with butter, wrap it in foil and bake for half hour to 45 min at 400.

You can get good results by nuking them.
