Pros / Cons of Leaving Shrimp Tail On?!
Answers:
Pro - It looks nicer, can be a 'handle' like someone else said.
Con is that you have to discard it at some point. When raw, there is a little barb that can stick you if your not careful. To keep it on the shrimp makes for a little extra work.
love shrimp, tail or no tail!
Leaving the tail on shrimp serves 2 purposes. 1. Presentation of the shrimp especially fried shrimp, the tail is fanned out for a nice looking presentation. 2. The tail gives the diner a way to hold the shrimp while using their fingers to eat.
The only con would be for those who don't know how to eat shrimp and consume the small bit of shell attached to the tail.
It is entirely up to preference whether or not to keep or discard the shrimp tail when cooking it. While a traditional recipe calls for keeping the tail intact, it isn't really necessary in more informal dineries and has no health benefits.
Pro: The tail allows you to grip the shrimp without dirtying your hands.
Con: Hassle to remove tail for consumption.
Hi,
It makes for a more attractive plate. You can also hang on to it when biting off your shrimp! No problem!
Done in sauteed garlic and butter, who cares what it looks like anyway?! I love shrimp / prawns done in butter and garlic!!!
Enjoy!
