you might also invest in a good "kitchen bible" such as Better Homes and Gardens New CookBook. They are not that expensive, very comprehensive, good for beginners to expert cooks. They not only contain excelent recipes, but menu suggestions, table settings and lots more. Current edition now on shelves at better bookstores and on line. I have had mine for more than 45 years.
There wouldnt be enough room to paste 10 recipies in the answer box here, but I have a few suggestions that Id like to share with you. First of all, for new cooks, I always recommend a few "fool proof methods", for instance, slow cooker cooking and braising (similar methods, they incorporate low and slow heat to meats that become tender and "fall off the bone" and never dry out or burn). The other things I would recommend is familiarizing yourself with a couple of family favorite recipes from each meat group/pasta (a couple solid chicken, beef, etc.), and while youre most likely going to be cooking meals for dinner, its good to know a couple of great breakfast foods as well. Now me personally, I cook for a living so I have "go to" recipes in my head for literally everything. For you, its important to start out slow, master a few skills and then add new dishes as you go. For instance, I wouldnt start grilling right away. Grilling is a skill that for some is difficult to master, so leave it for when you consider yourself a novice chef. Heres where Id start. Add this website to your favoites "allrecipes.com" and "foodnetwork.com" - they both have a seach box where you can ask for a particular dish and then see user ratings. Pick the dishes with the highest number of 5 star ratings and youll be off to a good start. Also look for recipes that say they are "easy", not interrmediate or difficult (not yet).
Off the top of my head, Id say you need to master these things to create a well rounded selection hitting the family dinner table on a regular basis:

Roast Chicken (whole)
Chicken breast recipe (all white meat)
Chicken thigh recipe (all dark meat)
Combination:
Stir Fry
Fajitas
Pork:
Pork Chops
Italian Sausages and Peppers
Pasta:
Marinara sauce (could go over anything, short cut pasta, spaghetti noodles, raviolis,etc)
Bolognese sauce
Veggie Sides, Rice Pilaf, Mashed potatoes
These ideas will get you started. Just think of what you would order at a restaurant (an imaginary restaurant that serves everything), then type that idea into the search box, look for a recipe with a high user rating, Id read a few of the reviews because as a beginner all tips are helpful, then proceed with an open mind. Remember, there are no mistakes in the kitchen and everything is a learning tool. Well, there's some recipes that will be your old standby reliables all your life. But rather than including recipes, I will suggest the basic food, and you can google for the recipes that sound best to you.

5. Decent sauce for a quick stir-fry
6. Basic beef stew
7. A good marinade for any meat that you grill outdoors
8. Decent biscuits

10. A good pasta salad recipe.
Master all of these, and then put your own spin on them as you learn. These basic dishes can be expanded to everything you need to know!

Sloppy Toms
Tom Turkey makes traditional Sloppy Joes lean and delicious
Ingredients
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 lb. ground turkey
1 medium yellow onion, peeled and chopped fine
1/2 cup best-quality ketchup
1/2 cup best-quality chili sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon coarse salt
freshly cracked black pepper
1/3 cup water
6 sesame seed topped hamburger buns, warmed
Method
Brush a skillet with oil and warm over moderate heat, 30 seconds. Add turkey and onion and sauté 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add all remaining ingredients [except buns] and simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes. Spoon mixture between split buns and serve immediately.
Cheese Tomato Bake
Ingredients
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 (1-oz.) pkg. onion soup mix
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 1/2 cups uncooked instant rice
1 1/2 cups water
1 medium tomato, sliced
4 oz. (1 cup) shredded colby-Monterey Jack cheese blend
Directions
1Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 8-inch square (2-quart) glass baking dish or 2-quart casserole with nonstick cooking spray.
2Cook ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain. Stir in soup mix, chopped tomatoes, rice and water. Bring to a boil. Pour into sprayed baking dish. Cover tightly with foil.
3Bake at 400°F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. Uncover; top with tomato slices; sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
