Anyone have a good recipe for caramel pop corn?!
Answers:
This recipe is tried and true, and pretty much goof-proof:
Pop 5-6 quarts corn & put into a roaster; set aside.
In a saucepan, combine 2 c. brown sugar; 2 sticks of butter or margarine (butter is BETTER!); 1/2 c white corn syrup. Bring to a boil & cook & stir for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat & stir in 1 t vanilla; 1 t salt; and 1 t baking soda , in that order. The soda will cause the mixture to foam- don't panic!
Pour the mixture over the popcorn & stir until well coated. Bake in a 250 degree oven for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool, and store in an airtight container or ziploc bag.
Browsing through the above recipes, I'm pretty sure this one would kick all their azzes, lol! My kids used to beg me to make it!
make a bowl of popcorn and set aside. be sure to use an extra large bowl.
melt about a half cup butter on lowish heat
stir in a half cup white sugar
keep stirring until sugar melts and it becomes a golden color
pour over popcorn in a circular motion and
quickly toss with two large spoons until well mixed
please be careful. this stuff is like molten lava and can really give you a nasty burn.
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of water
for every 2-3 cups of popped corn!
mix together the sugar and water in a pan till
caramilised and runny add the popped corn when
still hot. x
Kettle corn + homemade caramel. Not packet popcorn because its too buttery or salted. Homemade caramel to give it a sugary taste and a crunch.
Logical and probably is the right answer taste wise. ;-)
drizzle on caramel.
