You can use it but if you are truly trying to get rid of all milk products, you will need a soy or vegetable substitute for parmesan cheese and butter as well. You should be able to make a decent garlic cream sauce by first making a roux with equal parts oil & flour and then adding the garlic and soy milk. Stir until the gluten in the flour has thickened the mixture. It should taste similar to Alfredo Sauce.

My daughter is lactose free so I experiment a lot with alternatives to dairy. The above is a theory based on some of my experimentation.

Ingredients
4 1/2 tablespoons butter, margarine or Olive OIl
2 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
1.Meanwhile, melt butter or margarine in a saucepan. Stir in flour. Whisk in soy milk, garlic, salt and pepper for flavour and stir until thickened.
2.Add and stir cheese.
Definitely a good sub.

it would work yes, but I don't suggest that you consume soy as it is unhealthy for the body (I'm a health nut, read that several times. I'll spare you the details on why as it is easy to find out.)

Also, plain yougurt would work really well as a substitute also, sour cream for that matter too. (I've tried them both~it works all the time.)

if you're also using heavy cream&butter in your recipe, then the answer is yes. but if there's no other dairy products in the sauce, it won't be creamy.

Yes you can. I know vegans use soy, almond and rice milk as subsitutes for milk for stuff like that.

I don't know the answer, but this website probably does!
