measuring for jar lids?!

Question: Measuring for jar lids?
I want to re-use my jars for home made preserves. Some of the lids are not re-usable but I have found a site that sells lids. Do I measure the actual lid or the neck of the jar to get the correct measurement for replacements.

Answers:

if you are in the UK
lids are a standard size

you can get them from lakeland

or cheaper from here
i have used this site many times, love it

it scares me when you say "some of the lids are not re-usable". Theoretically, if the lids come from vacuum packed products, no lid is reusable. The vacuum capability of the lids has been compromised upon its first breaking of the seal.

I don't know if you are in the U.S. but our canning jars (and lids) come in 2 standard sizes: regular and large mouth size. Lids are typically sold at grocery stores, kitchen supply stores, etc., no need to order from internet.

been canning peppers all my life
