2nd course- shrimp

3rd course- steak or chicken with mixed vegies

4th course- salad

5th course- little candy

Drinks- tea, water, Coke, coffee

my first question is is that a good menu my second this is my first time making steak! Help and I also need help with the chicken

Answers:

If this is really your first time "fancy" dinner then go simple!!
Ist course soup is always good; but use a packet (powdered) soup - just pop powder into cold
water and bring to boil. Serve with plenty of crusty bread.
2nd course Shrimp and salad with a light fish/oil dressing
3rd course Steak is good - but remember - some like "blue" some like "well done" so stick to a
roast chicken with trimmings of sausage stuffing; roast veggies and cranberry sauce
4th course ALWAYS something light - a meringue; a trifle; a sponge with fresh fruit
5th course Cheese and water biscuits; garnished with fresh grapes and/or celery
6th course Coffee and sweet biscuits

When you said first time, I was thinking something else...

Your second course is too empty. Combine the second and fourth course. Other than that, the food sounds fine. For the drinks, none of it seems very appropriate for coffee, so i would replace that with some kind of juice.

For the chicken and steak, my mom leaves it in the sink to defrost for about an hour. Sometimes even over night. After it's defrosted and rinsed, we season it on both sides, then we preheat the oven for 400-450 degrees, and let it cook for about 45 minutes- an hour.

Look for steak and chicken recipes online. For the dessert, you should make something beside candy.

Do as many things ahead of time as you can (cutting up veggies, make the soup a day ahead so all you have to do is warm it up the night of the dinner), make the dessert, set the table earlier in the day so you're not rushing around with your guests there.

Never heard of eating a salad after the main course.

Try either combining you 2nd and 4th courses into a seafood salad of some sort and serve before the main course, or just switch your 3rd and 4th courses.

But that's just me........

Chicken noodle is not such a great soup , so you should stay away from that., also you should do away with the candy and offer some other type of dessert.
chicken will be easier ..
