What is an easy recipe for gum paste?!

Question: What is an easy recipe for gum paste?
It's my first time making gum paste and I want a good recipe that's pretty easy, but turns out like gum paste should. Is gum paste supposed to taste good because I had it at a friends house and it was pretty gross. So I want an easy, but authentic gum paste recipe that will be able to stand up completely straight. If it helps to know what I'm making out of gum paste, I'm making ski racing gates. Here is a picture of what I'm making.

Answers:

Make sure you find a recipe for gum paste, not fondant. I made fondant thinking it would harden to make decorations. I used way more powdered sugar than the recipe suggested, and it was still gooey and gross. The taste really depends what it is made of, I guess. When i made fondant, it was mainly shortening, powdered sugar and corn syrup. It was gross, greasy and super sweet.

Don't try to make it stand up straight when its wet. It needs to dry. Don't make it too thin, it might shatter.

Oh, and don't make too much. It is annoying to get rid of. And maybe you can paint them with food coloring after they are dry

EDIT: Gum paste and Fondant are NOT the same thing. Fondant is more like a layer of frosting, gum paste is used to make little sculptures.
