Because they are a pain in the *** to use/clean

It looks more cool to open with manual....avoids lot of sound, its messy in studios to have too many wired gadgets around..
and most importantly.....all the proffessional chefs ..never use electric openers in their real kitchens....so they are not used to it.

For one thing they have staffs who have everything pre-measured and laid out for hem before they start preparing a recipe.

For another, electric can openers are noisier. It is easier to talk using the hand powered opener than to talk over the electric can opener.

Some chefs do, but if you have to much electronic gadgets it will block out the sound coming from the microphones and we the audience or viewers wouldn't be able to hear what they are saying.

Because you can't clean a electric can opener it's the 2nd dirtiest thing in your house behind the kitchen sponge

Electric can openers aren't really any faster than a regular can opener. A lot of professional cooks find them just to be a waste of counter space and money.

Because proper chefs don't cook ANYTHING from a can so there is no point having a can opener, electric or otherwise.

Because they like to show you how pro they are that they can open a tincan without machines

It's more dramatic to do it manually!
