How much do vanilla beans typically cost?!

Question: How much do vanilla beans typically cost?
I'm trying out a new recipe, vanilla bean-coconut cupcakes that call for either vanilla beans or vanilla extract, and I'd like to try the real deal for once. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much 2 pods would cost me? I'm asking because I do know they're pricey, but I just need a ballpark cost.
Thanks!

i just bought some at the giant eagle in columbus ohio. there were 6 in the jar. i paid 6.79.

Oh wow !
for decades I never heard of or considered - the raw vanilla bean pod - but TV food shows overcame that - a new fad to be exotic
You might imagine that the raw bean should be cheaper - your only buying the jar - no processing the pod
But I checked them at my Holiday Market some time back - $7± - (?) four 4" pods
Sorry but I have never questioned a delicious treat to whether it was extract or raw pods
I can imagine if I wanted to increase the potency of my extract I would allow it to evaporate most of the liquid
Good Luck and
Happy Valentines Day

They can cost as much as $3 or $4 per bean if bought individually. Bought in bulk they are much much cheaper. This is what Amazon gets for them

Note that the 1st deal listed in the above list is a fantastic deal. $27 for 54 beans. I bought this last year and made 20 bottles of home made vanilla that I gave away as christmas gifts this year. Plus they have free shipping on that deal.

Vanilla beans are one of the most expensive spices. I live in Southern Europe and 2 pods cost 4 to 5 Euros, which I believe is something like 7 dollars.

Last time I looked in Rochester MN they were $11.00 for 2 of them jammed into a jar. Cannot remember the brand though.
Looks like this could vary quite a bit depending on where you are at.

In this area (Atlanta) 3 for $5.00. Since you are baking go for the extract (not the imitation). You won't be able to tell the difference.

I have seen them sell for $9.99 for 7 beans...I have never seen them sold separately...
