My husband has had dental work. Soft food recipes?!

Question: My husband has had dental work. Soft food recipes?
He had teeth pulled & got dentures. He is having trouble eating. I have made him mashed potatoes, spaghetti,(using finely ground meat from processor) Gravy & biscuits, which I THOUGHT would be soft enough, but, he had a hard time chewing the biscuits. I have given him soup, but, it has to be broth, just about. Is there anybody that has some recipes for some soft food that don't require a lot of chewing?

Answers:

I have had to deal with this problem and this is what I found:
Make salmon patties, using canned salmon. To eat cut it up in small pieces and the flaked salmon does not really have to be chewed.
Meatloaf. Again cut it up in bite size pieces and it can be eaten without chewing.
Applesauce is great! as is:
Mashed potatoes.
Sweet potatoes or carrots can be cooked and mashed for eating. Add a little butter and brown sugar. Yummy!
When making soups, add some lentils they are small enough you don't have to chew it but the vitamins and fiber are great.
Drink tomato juice or V-8 juice.
Fruit Smoothies

well when I worked at place for geriatrics with no teeth, we could give them almost any meal but we had to puree it first, just add it to a blender or food processor and add enough water to get like an apple sauce consistency

Other than that, there's apple sauce, jello, pudding, mashed potato and pureed squash, tomato soup, cream of rice or chicken soup (the pieces are so tiny), milkshakes

Scrambled eggs, jello, pudding, mashed bananas, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, breakfast essentials (you can find this at wal-mart all you do is add milk, its really filling!) other then that I'd say stick to liquid and if you can't think of anything else try baby food.
Hope that helps.
Good Luck.

My hubby had this done years ago too. He asked the dentist what would be best to eat and was told milk shakes and malts. We bought several and kept them in the freezer. Only takes a few minutes for them to get soft.

Instant Breakfast can be bought in powder form or in bottles already mixed. This has vitamins and minerals it it.

Baby foods are great.

See if straws help him bypass the gums.

By the way, do not go out to eat when you think he is well. I had one jaw tooth pulled, went out to eat in a restaurant too soon and got very sick for about two weeks. Something got into my blood system from the food or dishes. It was a nice clean restaurant.

when I had major braces work done, I LIVED on bean with bacon soup - good protein, easy on my mouth. Also would suggest macaroni and cheese; chicken/stuffing casserole (with chicken in small pieces - no biting) - lasagna, etc.

Most important - unless this was just done, he should check back with his dentist - he may need adjustments.

Till his mouth heals, things closest to liquids will be best. When my kids had their wisdom teeth removed years ago I bought a food blender and got some nutritious recipes for healthy drinks off the web. Good way to fill up without chewing.

Broth with egg noodles, pudding, jello, mashed bananas, and last resort, baby food.

Buy baby food. It's the purest and softest food there is. Or use the food processor and make your own baby food.
