lots of chips
Make sure all of your ingredients are at room temperature before you begin
Let your oven really heat, for 30 minutes is best, AFTER it has reached the temp in your recipe
You can't over-mix the butter, eggs, and sugar, but you CAN over-mix the batter. Mix just until everything comes together. Fold in chips lastly.
Rotate your pans, front to back; and, if using two trays, top to bottom half-way through the baking time
Don't overbake your cookies. Cookies that look done in the oven will be over-done after they've cooled.
Cool cookies on the baking pan for 5 minutes before moving to cooling racks
Store cookies air-tight with a slice of bread. The bread will keep the cookies fresh.
A recipe that uses real butter, and lots of brown sugar.
Also many people when using "soft" butter tend to nuke it because they don't keep it at room temp. If you do this and it starts to melt you will have flatter cookies (some people like this )
just make sure you check the oven so that they dont burn
