This is a question about SOUPS!?!

Question: This is a question about SOUPS!?
I have an assignment today to make a clear soup. Would an egg drop soup be considered a clear soup? If not, please give me some ideas! Thank you and have a good day.

Answers:

A consomme is a clear soup. The egg in egg-drop-soup would cloud it

A clear soup is a broth that is clear. You can get a pot add chicken, onion, carrot, celery, squeeze 1/2 of a lime, and any other veggie you want. Put a bay leaf, a little salt and pepper if you want. Let it cook. When it is done, strain the soup with a cheesecloth so that the chicken and veggies stays in the cloth and the liquid goes into another container. You will have a clear broth with lots of nutrients.

If you can't see through it, it's not a clear soup. No egg. How about a nice beefy mushroom broth? Beef broth, thinly sliced mushrooms, tiny bit of sesame oil, green onions, a splash of citrus, & some citrus zest. No fats, no creams, no eggs - all of these will cloud. Good luck!

Most people do not realize that clear soup is served before the main dinner. It is not suppose to fill you up. Yum.

I personally would make a chinese chicken and mushroom soup - water/stock, chicken strips, sliced mushrooms, sliced carrot and sprong onions with some 5 spice

No an egg drop soup is not clear. You want something that you can basically "see thru" such as a broth based soup like french onion or won-ton soup.
