Does anyone have some dorm food ideas?!

Question: Does anyone have some dorm food ideas?
I'm probably transferring to a boarding school next year to finish my last 2 years of high school. Microwaves/toasters/etc. are not allowed in dorm rooms, but there are a few public microwaves that can be shared in each hall. Students are allowed to have a small fridge in their room, but it's unlikely that I will even be able to have one unless I have a roommate that has one and is willing to share hers with me. I'm pretty sure I'll be allowed to keep a rice cooker in my dorm room...but as much as I love rice, I can't imagine eating just rice all the time. If I don't use the microwave and don't have a fridge, do I realistically even have any other options? Thanks.

Actually, if you can have a rice cooker in your room there's loads more that you can cook in it besides just rice! Check out some of these for examples and more info:

Since you have access to a microwave too a lot of possibilities would be open to you, but not having a frig puts a dent in that especially for dinners.
As mentioned, you could use a makeshift frig with some kind of cooler (or just a cardboard box with crumpled paper inside and/or clothing or blankets), and especially if you could get free ice, or freeze some of those freezer packs in someone else's freezer, etc, to use at least for a few days after you'd bought things that needed refrigeration.

There are all kinds of things you could make without refrigeration too, esp. with the rice cooker and microwave.
There are a few more suggestions in my answer to this previous question:

And see what you can find in these:

Good luck!

Get a small ice chest if you don't have access to a fridge. Those dorm fridges are so small anyway, there's not much you can put in them, but an ice chest with some ice in sealed packages (ziplock?) so you don't have a melting mess will hold much more. Stock it with fresh veggies for munching. Hummus to dip them in. Cheese. Fruit. Shelf stable milk. Keep a box you can put a top on (bugs and critters and thieving floormates!) and keep crackers, peanut butter, jam, popcorn, canned soups (put over the rice), juices, powdered drink mixes, a couple of plates, bowls, silverware. You can wash things in the bathroom. Have fun!
