Red velvet cake with no food coloring?!

Question: Red velvet cake with no food coloring?
I want to make a red velvet cake for Valentine's Day but I don't have any food coloring. I heard you can use beet juice, but my dad absolutely hates beets. What can I use to make the cake red?
(I've got a jar of maraschino cherries, maybe do something with that?)

You're not going to get a red color at all w/o the coloring.

He wouldn't notice that little bit of beet juice. Or liquefy the cherries in the food processor, the bits will taste good in the cake!

Sorry Jamie, I have to agree with everyone...ya gonna have to get the food coloring!
