would like to cook, dont know how to ask? please answer :)?!

Question: Would like to cook, dont know how to ask? please answer :)?
My parents aren't much of cooks, and although I haven't really done much cooking I would like to. I'm too young to use the stove or oven without supervision, but I've always wanted to at least cook dinner or dessert or something. As of now, my sister and I just pop burritos into the microwave. I know this is a weird question, but how can I ask my parents if I can cook meals sometime? It just seems kinda odd to me.

Go to the library and get a cookbook for complete beginners. Ask the parents if you could try some recipes, as long as they are in the house to supervise stove/oven use. Really, it's a win/win situation- you learn what you want, and they get great meals!

Start with something easy, like a pot roast. I firmly believe that anyone who can read and follow directions can become a great cook with some practice. Good luck to you- as an accomplished and adventurous cook, I LOVE when people show an interest in food! All of my late-20s sons are excellent cooks because I gave them the basic tools and the love for good food....and you can overcome that lack if you are pro-active, so go do it!

Show this answer to them if you need to- they will soon be appreciating your efforts, lol!

I started out cooking just by watching my mum, and seeing what I could help with (stirring things while she was chopping something, or asking if something needs chopping), and asking questions. It wasn't long before I knew how to make a few basic dishes and I offered to make them myself. And I just got better and better from there!

If that's not an option because they literally don't cook, then I can't really think of anything except "hey mum, can I cook something for dinner sometime?". It'd be good to already have a recipe in mind - a clear goal - and make sure you keep it simple.

Good luck!

Ask it as though you want to do something special for them.

Hey Mom/Dad, I want to cook you guys dinner for Valentines Day..

Then after it's been done you just keep going on and on about how fun it was and can you do it again?
I really don't think they'll say no. You sound like a dream child to me! (yea I'm a mom)

"Hey mum, can I do dinner tonight and will you take me shopping" There not too hard was it?

Do a really good salad, no need to actually cook stuff as such, do a cheese-cake for desert - the uncooked sort.

Tell them you feel like they do a lot for you, and you would like to do something with them for a change as to cook dinner.

Start with something simple like scrambled eggs and toast and ask if you can make them breakfast. That way they are home and can see how you manage in the kitchen. Don't forget to clean up when you are done or your mother might be discouraged.

"Hey mom, why don't you rest tonight and let me take a crack at making dinner?"

Hello, Mary! I think it's wonderful that you have a desire to do some cooking! Everyone has to begin somewhere, right? What do you think of this idea? Either think of a dish that you like to eat or find a recipe that interests you. Take it to your mom and show it to her. With enthusiasm, tell her that you'd like to try to make it for the whole family! Make sure you think you'll be able to do it. Using a recipe is mostly just following the directions. I am going to give you a website that I use all the time. It's called www.allrecipes.com here you will find everything you can imagine. They give tips and helpful hints and the recipes are rated by the users.
I think your mom will be delighted that you would like to do some cooking for the family. Start out simply with spaghetti and a jar of sauce, salad out of a bag, and garlic bread from the grocery freezer. Perhaps your mom will even become interested and you will cook together!
Best wishes on your cooking endeavors!
