* Sugar - 2 cups
* Sour cream - 8 ounces
* Unsalted butter (softened) - 1 stick
* Vanilla - 2 tablespoons
* Vanilla ice cream (softened) - 1 quart

Procedure

To prepare this easy chocolate ice cream cake recipe, first preheat the oven to 325 degree Fahrenheit. Take a 10 inches tube pan and grease it thoroughly with cooking spray. Take a small mixing bowl and combine butter and shortening in it. Blend them together with an electric hand mixer and then add sugar and beat the mixture to attain fluffy, light and creamy texture. Then, add eggs into this mixture, one at a time. Beat the mixture after addition of each egg. Combine sifted flour, baking soda and vanilla to this mixture. Mix them properly and then add sour cream. Blend all the ingredients together and in the end put in the chocolate chips and melted German chocolate. Pour this batter into the greased pan and bake the cake for about 1 hour and 15minutes in the preheated oven. Once the cake is ready, leave for about 5 minutes to cool completely on a wire rack.

Once the cake has cooled, divide it into 4 horizontal layers with help of a sharp knife. Carefully separate the layers and then place the lower layer in a serving plate. Now take the vanilla ice cream and spread half of it evenly on this layer. Keep the plate in the refrigerator to freeze the layer. Then add the second cake layer over the vanilla layer and spread the chocolate ice cream over it. Again freeze the layers. Then place the third layer and spread the remaining vanilla ice cream over it and freeze. Now, place the fourth layer and cover the entire cake with remaining chocolate ice cream. Freeze the cake overnight or for 8 hours.

To prepare the frosting, add heavy cream in a mixing bowl and beat it to attain foamy texture. Gradually combine amaretto and powdered sugar to it and beat the mixture. Cover the sides and top of the cake with this frosting and sprinkle the slivered almonds over it. Your yummy vanilla chocolate ice cream cake is ready! You can also use all chocolate ice cream layers if you do not want to use vanilla.

Get a spring form pan and chocolate (or swirl) ice cream wait for it to become soft (not all the way melted) pour in about half way/spread. Crush cookie of choice (with rolling pin in a zip-lock bag) cover the top with it (no more than ~1/2 inch) then get some ice cream fudge topping. Cover the cookie crumbs. Add more ice cream on top. Stick in freezer for about 20min. Then you can use a different kind of ice cream as frosting. Freeze again and you have ice cream cake like they make at DQ.
