How come my layer cake doesn't have straight sides?!

Question: How come my layer cake doesn't have straight sides?
Is there a reason why my cake pans are bigger in diameter on the top but smaller on the bottom? When I try to make layer cakes with these, the sides come out bigger at the top and smaller at the bottom, making the sides not even. What do I do?

are you sure they are layer cake pans 'cause I have been making cakes for over 40 years and never seen a layer cake pan with sloping sides.
You simply need the correct pans.

That's called draft, Genius. That is so the cake comes out of the pan easily. Get yourself a cake knife and trim the sides and top of the layers so it's flat and square. Crumb coat and refrigerate and then frost.

First, flip your cakes when done so the larger part is on the bottom. Second, go buy some new pans with straight sides. Wilton makes decent ones and they're relatively inexpensive.

just flip the cake over... I have never heard of a cake pan like that
