Creamy cake filling NOT TOO SWEET...?!

Question: Creamy cake filling NOT TOO SWEET...?
I'm making a birthday cake for a girl who doesn't like chocolate cake but loooves snickers so I'm making a vanilla sponge with snickers filling (if I can find a recipe).

I am essentially looking for a creamy, not-so-sweet frosting that's DOESN'T taste LIKE a snickers just has snickers pieces in it (think of a snickers blizzard: rather than chocolate icecream with caramel, peanuts, and nouget in it it is just vanilla icecream with snickers blended in it). I want the snickers to be the sweetest part and the star of the filling...

Does someone at least have a recipe for creamy, not-so-sweet, frosting that I could just blend snickers in to?

Make your own frosting, so that you can adjust the sweetness. It's not that hard to make. Here's a quick and simple recipe.

* 3 cups confectioners' sugar
* 1 cup butter
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 to 2 tablespoons whipping cream

Directions

In a standing mixer fitted with a whisk, mix together sugar and butter. Mix on low speed until well blended and then increase speed to medium and beat for another 3 minutes.

Add vanilla and cream and continue to beat on medium speed for 1 minute more, adding more cream if needed for spreading consistency.

Frosting is basically butter and icing sugar. Icing sugar is just ground sugar and cornstarch. A cream cheese frosting would be tasty and cuts the sweetness. Let butter and cream cheese get to room temperature, then start mixing and add in some icing sugar to taste, then if it still needs thickening, add in just cornstarch.

For the recipe below, change it to 1/2 cup icing sugar and 1/4 cup cornstarch in place of the 1 cup icing sugar.

1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter
1 cup icing sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla

Mix together until creamy. Gently fold in snickers pieces. Store in refrigerator (will get stiff, so add to cake while still workable).

For the filling couldn't you just make a slightly sweetened whipped cream and put the snickers pieces in it and use that. I'm not sure what I would do for the frosting.

Cream cheese cake batter. Google it! I prefer cream cheese in cookie recipes AND cake recipes because it isn't very sweet and it agrees with just about everything. Try it.

1 pint of heavy cream
1 cup milk
1 pkg. instant pudding (you choose the flavor)

whip together until stiff and fold in anything you like

I use vanilla pudding and chocolate cake (my favorites)

as said a cream cheese filling would be good. I have a quick and simple cheesecake recipe that i often use as a filling and frosting. Even though it has cream cheese in it, it's not overly rich and not extremely sweet, it's just nice with out being sickly or over powering amongst other flavors. The snickers would really go well with it and stand out great.

Here's the recipe:

1 block of cream cheese
250ml whipping cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp of vanilla (you could add more if you like)

First whip the whip cream until it forms stiff peaks.
Then in another bowl beat the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla together until well blended
Finally fold the whip cream into the cream cheese mixture together and then your finished. It will set up a bit once chilled and what not.

Good luck!

been using this recipe for ages, it`s the first recipe with cream cheese in it that i like and so does everyone else, it`s always a hit as a cake, icing or a filling.
