CAN U MAKE BROWNIES WITHOUT OIL?!

Question: CAN U MAKE BROWNIES WITHOUT OIL?
im babysitting my little brother and sister. my mom says i can make brownies for them, but she's not picking up the phone. the mix calls for vegetable oil, but we dont have that. dont have butter either, just a tiny bit of olive oil left. my brother hates olive oil and he can taste it if u put it in brownies (trust me, he can). so what is the smallest amount i can put in so that brownies are okay? can you just take out the oil completely? like, maybe use milk instead....what would happen if i left it out???? thanks!!!!!

Answers:

Try using mayonnaise, sour cream, or applesauce.

Putting oil in brownies or cake mix just makes them "moist". It keeps the flour from drying out too much while baking. A lot of people just put in some yogurt, sour cream, cream cheese, or even just extra water, instead of oil. If you do this, you have to watch the brownies while baking, to make sure they dont burn. Oil also helps keep the flour from burning too much while baking.

Other things you can use instead of oil or butter:

Applesauce
chocolate chips
peanut butter
egg
cream
crushed fruit, like strawberries or raspberries

You can replace the oil with applesauce and it's much healthier than oil...I wouldn't substitute milk..you could melt margarine if you had it..otherwise save your mix until next time.

applesauce or yogurt.
