That someone is full of beans. The only substance that will make you thinner is water.

Some people have the misconception that because a food product has vinegar it helps you lose weight. Red velvet cake is a regular cake mix, vinegar, chocolate, and red food coloring. It is then topped off with a high fat frosting made out of butter, cream cheese and lots of sugar. So the answer is obviously NO. No cake is good for losing weight. People suggest Angel Food cake, but that is also not a good choice. Angel food cake is made with a ton of egg whites, usually 7 eggs or more and lots of sugar. If you want to lose weight, eat lean meats, low fat food products especially in dairy, and lots of green vegetables. Instead of having cake, eat fruit...

I am a chef.

And how do you figure this would work?

Cake of Any kind is Not going to help you loose weight. That is not to say you shouldn't enjoy some from time to time though.

Red velvet cake won't make you skinny.
If you have to eat cake, try angel food cake (not too many calories).

Too bad you don't remember who told you....because then you could make a bet with them...That is money in your pocket...LOL
