Can I get sick touching an unripe banana?!

Question: Can I get sick touching an unripe banana?
My dad bought me some and I forgot to take them out of the bag, they are still well green and were in the bag all day without air. I just let them out and I touched them, should I be washing my hands to avoid contamination or am I overdoing it? I live with roomates so I don't want to get them sick.

Hi Canadian,

Green bananas are safe to eat. They contain resistant starch which is helpful for people controlling their blood sugar, because resistant starch has less effect on blood glucose levels

well you probably dont have anything to worry aobut most people touch bananas from the stem, you know the dark part at the top? so you're okay but if you feel like you need to wash your hands then go for it, but leaving bananas int he bag is not going to make anyone sick, especially because most people do not eat the peel. dont worry about it its fine lol

If you are doubt about it then better wash your hands. Because your bananas were kept in the bag unripe bananas get riped and color changes to yellow. And it will be sweet and good to your health. If they are squeezed then better avoid them

I'm pretty sure you should wash your hands whenever in doubt. I am also pretty sure that only uncooked meat is bad to touch.

I always eat my banana's about half green. I don't like them if they are ripe.
