Question: Would this be a stew or cassarole?
Lentils with carrot and potato boiled with a tiny bit of water and some Vegemite for 15 minutes, served with toast

That's a soup, not a stew, stews are thick usually thickened with flour or other thickeners, soups are broth based/water based. Casseroles are baked .



Depends how and where you cook them. In a saucepan on the hob is a stew, whilst in a dish in the oven is a casserole.



When I try to make a casserole and it comes back out of the oven and it looks like soup , I call it stew . LOL. Depends on your point of view , shhh . :)



It would be a stew. If the ingredients were baked in a earthen or ceramic vessel, then it would be a casserole.



Stew on the stovetop, casserole in the oven....
