What do brown-ish specks in yogurt mean?!

Question: What do brown-ish specks in yogurt mean?
I made some yogurt last night at home and it looked creamy and white when I took it out of incubation this morning and put it in the fridge, I just took it back out, though, and it has all these little brown specks in it that look grainy. On the other hand, it smells fine and doesn't look moldy. I'm scared to proceed! What does this mean?

well if you didnt add any fruit or granola or anything i would say its possibly mold or something that is not safe...dont eat it unless your absolutely sure its not mold

It sounds like bits from the utensils you used- they will show up a lot in a white yoghurt.

I wouldn't worry - maybe a little creature got in over night and has disintegrated in the yoghurt. Never mind, stir it all in -it's all extra protein!

Seriously - if it smells OK (difficult to tell with yoghurt but it was freshly made) it should be OK.

Did you add vanilla bean seeds?

I did that to a Suzette sauce once and forgot and thought the non-stick surface was coming off my pan ... and threw it away before I realized it was vanilla seeds

unless its fruit... it shouldnt be in there

when in doubt -throw it out
no need to get sick!
