And how did you get your kids to get into eating it? After reading about how bad whir bread and all white products are for you decided to switch to wheat for my health?

My daughter and I both switched everything - bread, pasta, rice, etc.

But my parents refuse to switch! My Mom thinks that whole grains don't taste good.

I'm very lucky because my daughter is a very non-picky eater so it was no problem changing her. If she didn't want to then I would tell her she can eat the healthy stuff I buy or go hungry.

I have quite awhile ago. I'll eat white products like sweets or bagels occasionally. I think it's really unhealthy to eat it everyday though. Wheat is better, but eating too much wheat can cause problems and allergies to it. Gluten allergy is becoming more and more common. You should try to find recipes without wheat to make as well. Or try using other products like ones made with rice flour or other gluten free ingredients. Look at your local health store. There are more and more products becoming available, and they are becoming tastier. Try to find recipes that are healthy and tasty for your kids. Introduce new foods to them slowly. Try to sneak veggies into their foods - Jessica Seinfeld has a cookbook about it called Deceptively Delicious. Best of luck.

My sister has a gluten allergy. Also see the cookbook You Are What You Eat - very eye opening.

We use whole grain cereals and white whole wheat bread, which is made from a species of wheat that yields a lighter color of bran so the flour looks pretty similar to plain old white flour.

Check out the availability of breads made with this.
As to other products, my kids and grand kids basically eat what is prepared; thats the rules.
I have eaten whole wheat bread for many years. My mother had a heart condition caused by rheumatic fever and was diabetic so thats what we had and thats what she made.

Glutten is in white bread too as white bread is also made from wheat flour, it is just so ground up that the bran had been pulverized.

I switched along time ago. My mom didn't have any problem switching it with me. It tastes exactly like normal bread, just throw out all the white bread or use it up (or do what my family did- we fed ducks at the park with it!) then buy only whole wheat or grain bread. They'll hardly notice the difference (besides color), and if they ask, explain all the health benefits.

I have always just fed my kids wheat products we don't buy white products as my husband has weight issues so he needs to watch that stuff. But really i have eatten both and i don't really notice a difference.

my mom changed the bread and pasta to whole wheat..i think it tastes better or i don't even notice the difference.

My kids never ate white bread so that's how they were brought up.
