How much should I sell my cupcakes for?!

Question: How much should I sell my cupcakes for?
I'm making them completely from scratch. I'm not puting any fancy decorations on them, they're all about the taste-not exactly looks. I just want to sell them to friends and stuff for now, I'm not wanting a huge buisness out of them..just trying to make some extra money. How much should I sell them for? Indevidually, and by half a dozen, and a dozen?

Answers:

try and look into what some local bakeries are going per serving.

I think a 1.00/cupcake for classic flavors (chocolate, vanilla, lemon..etc) 5.50 for a half dozen and 10.00 for a whole dozen? then you can do 1.50 for exotic flavors (keylime, chili chocolate..etc) 8.50/half dozen, and 16.00/dozen.

Hi Annawat,

I know the cost of making them. I suggest you sell each one for $1.50 to your friends.
If you want to sell them by 1/2 dozen: Sell them for $ 4.75 per half doz. Doz: no more than $8 bucks.
Here's why, remember that bakeries sell them also, and they sell a dozen for about $5 dollars.
Since yours are homemade it's sounds reasonable. Your friends won't mind that price either.

for single sale, 25p for packs of 4, 75p will be good. in packs of 6, around £1.00. then in packs of 12, about £1.75. some of the prices are low, but they all add up. trust me! also make the wrapping look pretty, if they look nice, people are sure to realise they ARE nice! good luck on your cake sale!

You've got to do a "break even analysis" to know how much you need to charge to avoid losing money. Then, mark it up further based on how much you want to clear in profit.

Sell them in packs of 4, nicely wrapped, with a ribbon tied on. Good presentation goes a long way.

Check with what you would pay for them at your local bakeries.
$2.00-$3.00 here.
