Mushroom Barley Soup is my favorite recipe from this cookbook. Soy sauce and sherry create a great base for a rich and tasty soup. A few suggestions:

-buy mushrooms that are reduced for quick sell, as they are cheaper and sometimes more flavorful

-Pearl River Bridge mushroom dark soy sauce is a type of soy sauce to use for this recipe. You can find it at some Asian markets.

Myself, having a sweet tooth, I usually gravitate to the dessert section and try something there and then something from the main dish section.
