I just slice and core my apples (most people peel them, I don't) and put them in a pan with a little white wine, cinnamon and just a tiny tiny pinch of clove. Cook over low heat till they start to collapse. Then sweeten to taste. I "mash" them by whizzing them with the immersion blender, so I guess you could do that part in the blender, but wait till they're cooked.

Applesauce Recipe
Preparation time: 45 minutes. The sugar amounts are just guidelines, depending your taste, and on the sweetness of your apples, use less or more. If you use less sugar, you'll likely want to use less lemon juice. The lemon juice brightens the flavor of the apples and balances the sweetness.
Ingredients
3 to 4 lbs of peeled, cored, and quartered apples. (Make sure you use a good cooking apple like Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Jonathan, Mcintosh, or Gravenstein.)
4 strips of lemon peel - use a vegetable peeler to strip 4 lengths
Juice of one lemon, about 3-4 Tbsp
3 inches of cinnamon stick
1/4 cup of dark brown sugar
up to 1/4 cup of white sugar
1 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Method
1 Put all ingredients into a large pot. Cover. Bring to boil. Lower heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
2 Remove from heat. Remove cinnamon sticks and lemon peels. Mash with potato masher.
Ready to serve, either hot or refrigerated. Delicious with vanilla ice cream or vanilla yogurt.
Freezes easily, lasts up to one year in a cold freezer.

3 Medium apples.
*Peel, chop, and core them
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar

I don't see why not, just chop it up well before you add it; I don't think I would rely on the blender to do all the work, and it won't be cooked.
I make mine on the stove top. Peel and slice how ever many apples you have, add a little liquid (water or apple juice) and simmer on low. They will cook down and you can mash them for chunky sauce or put them in your blender to make a smoother sauce. (cool it down before blending.)
During the cooking process, I like to add cinnamon or apple pie spice. Sugar or sweetener depends on the sweetness of the apples.
Applesauce doesn't need to be blended the apples naturally break down and form a sauce when you cook them. Just peel, core and dice one cooking apple (Bramley or similar) put in a saucepan or microwave dish with a little water, a squeeze of lemon juice and some sugar and cook until the apple has disintegrated and has formed a smooth sauce. If it is too thick add a little more water.

No need.
Cook the apples and they will mostly break down from cooking. You can blend them after cooking but simply mashing them works too. (why dirty a blender)
after you cook the apples, yes, it can be blended, but I would pulse it so that that it doesn't get too blended
Yes, make sure to remove the skin first, though.
