they are totally different as the chuck roast comes from the front shoulder area and the rump from the hind quarter. the taste is not teh same with the chuck being more of a stringy taste but flavorful because it has more natural fat. the rump being from the rear is leaner and very tender but needs some added juices to cook up well like dry soup mix, boulion cubes or beef broth where as the chuck doesn't need anything as being fatter it will creat it's own juice.
they are both good so can't go wrong with either one. the rump will cost more unless you buy on sale.

Rump is from the back end of the cow and chuck is from the front end of the ribs.

Rump is a leaner cut and considered higher quality than chuck.

Rump is usually used for some steaks, in stews and as a cut for corned beef (brisket is also used for corned beef, that's another story).

Chuck is good for pot roasts and similar cooking methods as well as making ground beef.

They are different cuts of meat.

Rump roast is part of the backside of a cow.
Chuck roast is a front part.

You also cook them at different tempatures.

Rump roast is mainly for stew and roasts, whereas chuck roast can more often be used for other things.
