What is the easiest cake to make?!

Question: What is the easiest cake to make?
I want to make my husband a cake for Valentines day... BUt i have never made a cake in my life.
What is the easiest cake to make??? doesnt have to be from scratch. It can be from a box, i just want to know the easiest one to make one.
What do I need? What steps do I take?

Answers:

honestly, any cake box recipe is easy to make. if you have electric beaters and a rectangular pan, just follow the directions on the box. i do recommend that you wipe butter all over the pan then dust all over with flour before pouring the batter. usually the steps include put the cake mix in a bowl, then usually eggs, maybe milk, water, oil, or a combination of these. then just beat. if you can measure and read a stove, you are good. also use a toothpick to check doneness. (insert in center & pull out) to decorate, either just spread ready-made frosting directly on the cake in the pan which is the easiest way, if you really want to turn it over on a cake platter, do wait until the ENTIRE cake is room temperature or else your cake might fall apart. simplicity usually is better when decorating a cake. (also, don't decorate a cake with valentines 'conversation' hearts or they will liquefy) put them on the individual pieces when served. GOOD LUCK

The easiest cake if you're OK with boxed is the boxed cake in whatever flavor you like, since it usually only requires that you add eggs, milk, and butter.

However, when I made cake from scratch, I made this (add 2 tbs of lemon juice to the batter)

I made this for my birthday, and it came out very nice. It was my first cake, ever.
That's not very romantic, though. For V-Day, you have to go with chocolate cake no matter what.

I've tried out this recipe, it's good, and for 2 servings it'll take you 10 minutes, max:

This excellent sponge cake recipe that is delicious and easy to make. Serve it with a fruit compote. If you don't want to use amaretto liqueur and brandy, substitute 1/4 cup water plus and 1 teaspoon almond extract in the batter and omit sprinkling the cake with the extra amaretto liqueur.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour, 35 minutesIngredients:
?6 egg whites
?pinch of salt
?6 egg yolks
?8 oz. slivered almonds, ground
?1 cup sugar
?1 Tbsp. matzoh meal
?2 Tbsp. brandy
?6 Tbsp. amaretto liqueur, divided
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9" springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper. Then butter the paper and flour the pan.
Beat egg whites in large bowl of an electric mixer until fluffy. Sprinkle with salt and beat until stiff. Add the egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Combine the ground almonds, sugar, and matzo meal. Gradually add this to the egg mixture. Add the brandy and 2 Tbsp. of the amaretto. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees until firm to the touch, about 1-1/4 hours. Cool completely in the pan.

Remove sides of pan and sprinkle with remaining 4 Tbsp. amaretto. Serves 8-10

Most box mixes are pretty much the same, add oil, water and eggs, mix, pour in pan and bake per what the box says. All of the measurements and everything you need to know is on the box.

Why not just buy a Valentine's day ice cream cake from Dairy Queen
