How to cook mushrooms for cream of mushroom soup?!

Question: How to cook mushrooms for cream of mushroom soup?
Okay, this is going to sound like a stupid question to anyone who actually cooks, unlike me, but... I bought a can of cream of mushroom soup today and they never put enough mushrooms in it for me, so I went and bought a few extra. My question is how should I prepare them before adding them to the pre-existing soup so they blend in? I've never cooked mushrooms before so.

Answers:

i am always in the same boat.
(i usualy buy plain- canned mushrooms to avoid this problem- i just strain the can and add a few of teh mushrooms)

with fresh mushrooms you just need to cut them up and you can saute them in a little bit of butter or light cooking oil... not too much or it makes the soup have a top layer of grease...

you can also just boil them in water and add a bit less from the can of soup (not as yummy IMO)
i often do it in the same pot before i pour the can of soup in it...
one less pot to clean that way...

Saute them.
I LOVE cream of mushroom soup, and I LOVE mushrooms. In fact I jsut had some.

Heat butter in a pan, and slice the shrooms. Saute them, they will shrivel up, so use them all.
Saute til they get as creamy as you desire.
Put cream into them, then add that mushroom cream mix into the soup bowl.
GAd that sounds good.

saute` in a little butter or oil. You will tell when they are done as they will look different.
BTW, they will leach a lot of liquid. Use that as part of the liquid when you make the soup because it is chock full of mushroom flavor.

easiest preperation is to put mushrooms in a safe microwave bowel and add butter, heat for a few minutes and u got it, make sure u cover the bowl

melt some butter in a pan/pot, add chopped up mushrooms and saute until soft.
