Good Icing for Fine details?!

Question: Good Icing for Fine details?
Its my dads Birthday this weekend, And Ive started to plan his cake. Im thinking of making a multi tier cake, artistically done in a Philadelphia flyers theme. I think I am going to do matching cupcakes as well.
I want to ice the logo http://backseatfan.com/wp-content/upload…
on some of the cupcakes. But I dont want it to be all gloopy and melt together.

What is a good icing to use, that tasted good, but will keeps its form, and be easy to pipe?

Also, I was thinkiking of making a hocky puck for the cake, and some smaller things like that, What should I use? Rice Crisipies? then cover it in fondant?

Thanks!!

Answers:

To make that design small enough to put on each cupcake will be quite difficult and time consuming done with icing. You could do it by making a frozen buttercream transfer for each cupcake. Another possibility would be to have an edible image made. You can have them print up a sheet for cupcakes and it will print, I think, 24 small images on each sheet and each sheet will cost you, roughly, $8.00.
To make the hockey puck, rice krispies would work well, covered with fondant. If the pieces you are going to make are small you could just form them from the fondant. You do need to allow 4 or 5 days for them to thoroughly dry though.
