You will need 2 coffee cans, 1 big and 1 small. Pour the ice cream mixture (use any recipe you like) into the small coffee can. Put the lid on the can and seal with tape, making sure it is waterproof. Put the small can in the large can and fill with ice and salt. Put the lid on and seal with tape, again making sure it is well sealed. Roll the can around on the floor for 20 or 30 minutes. This is a great way to entertain kids. Open up the cans, being careful not to get salt water in the ice cream. This method works with whatever containers you have, including ziplock bags.

Zelda forgot to put how you're supposed to repeat the process after putting desired extra ingredients in...after you put the desired extra ingredients in,reseal small can and place in larger can. Repack with salt and ice. Continue rolling for 10 minutes more. Open large can and dump ice and water. Wipe small can dry and open. Enjoy!

Not exactly, no. but try granita! super simple, easy, and you can basically make any flavor you want once you know the technique.
I would say Zelda's way is the most efficient. Some people try putting the ice cream mixture in a sheet pan and stirring the mixture every few minutes (15-30).
