I'm making pancakes but I'm out of syrup. Is it a good idea to just pour rum on them?!

I figured both are made from sugar and both make me happy. Infallible logic, right?

I just saw a recipe today for espresso sauce for french toast. It would probably be just as good on the pancakes. Just mix some instant coffee with a small amount of sweetened condensed milk and heat. I might add some vanilla also. If you have some strawberry preserves and sour cream, you can eat them like a blintz.

If you know what you are doing you could flambe them.

Allow 2 Tablespoons per pancake. You could use rum.
Once all the pancakes are cooked, lower the heat and place a cooked pancake in the frying pan again, sprinkle with the teaspoon of sugar and pour over the Grand Marnier or Cointreau and light the alcohol with caution, using either a cooks blow torch, hob lighter or a long match. Be very careful when doing so! And do not be tempted to put more alcohol. Once the flames extinguish serve on a plate folded or rolled. Dust with icing sugar and add a few strawberries to serve

Yum. Rum.
When I was little granny made a simple syrup out of boiling water and sugar. She cooked it until it was the constancy of syrup. I wonder what it would have tasted like if she had added a little Rum...

If you have some jelly or jam just heat it with a bit of water to make a fruit syrup.Save the rum for later.
One of my favorite uses for rum is a butter-rum sauce on apple pie.

I like the way you think, but your pancakes will taste crappy. Just eat them without syrup after drinking the rum, then you won't care what they taste like : )

Sweetened condensed milk is wayyyy good on them

Tried it :)

Try some sweetened condensed milk

try lemon juice and sugar or jam and cream
